Testimonials on how CGS Family Counseling & Wellness Center has made a positive impact in people’s lives and the community.

“Haven Academy has partnered with the Catholic Guardian Family Center for the last two years. They have provided counseling services to many of our scholars. They have partnered closely with families and Haven Academy to best support the children and family as a whole. They are in frequent communication with us as providers to ensure that wraparound services are provided.

We refer specifically to their clinic due to the trauma-informed nature of their work. It is difficult to find a clinic in the Bronx with many clinicians who specialize in trauma-informed care, but this is exactly what we have found at CGS.

We have also never had a scholar put on a waitlist, which is also unusual for many mental health clinics in our district. Once a referral is submitted, the family is contacted quickly to begin the intake process. We highly recommend CGS to many families looking for comprehensive, trauma-informed therapeutic services in the Bronx.”

“MH is constantly in awe of you and is now very educated about her disorder, owing to you and your team's amazing work. She loves you in the purest form possible. Your work reflects well on the clinic. We appreciate you! Have a blessed day!”

“On behalf of the families of Excellence Community Schools, we appreciate the programs and services provided by Catholic Guardian Services. The partnership with CGS has allowed us to refer our parents and their scholars to receive additional support services, ranging from behavioral therapy, family therapy, and counseling.

Catholic Guardian Services has been helping our families and scholars deal with their behavior issues, focus in the classroom, and counseling services. Parents have stated that the CGS center is clean, bright, comfortable and that the staff is friendly and comforting. Parents have also said that they like the services they are receiving for their children and talk to the Mental Health Staff.

The parent of JP stated that he is doing much better in school and that he informed his Mom that going to CGS has helped him to be more open to discuss his feelings and issues that he may be having or experienced without any judgment.

We are grateful for our partnership with CGS and fully endorse their services to the community.”

Jan 2020: A 13-year-old Hispanic male, diagnosed with Specific Phobia (anxiety about a specific object or situation-school), was referred for services due to his current provider shutting down. RP also experienced an eight-day hospitalization in November 2019 due to a decline in functioning and worsening depression and anxiety.

Feb 2020: RP enrolled for services. Services included psychotherapy-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and medication management to reduce the intensity of anxiety and depression symptoms.

July 2020: The therapist participated in a preventative family service termination conference due to the noted achievements: Consistent participation in psychotherapy and medication management, improved school attendance (pre/post COVID), acceptance of care management enrollment, and the mother gained the capacity to advocate for her son's needs.

Other treatment highlights: RP disclosed a traumatic event in school that led to school attendance resistance and a revised trauma-related diagnosis (PTSD). His mother participated in training and evidenced an understanding of ensuring compliance and proper administration. Lastly, his mother verbalizes that she feels seen/heard/valued/empowered and enjoys the "team approach" and flexibility from CGS providers. RP is active in weekly services.
